Strategy, research, and business development rooted in 4 pillars

The 4 Pillars of Conservation 4.0:

My Operating Ethos

Science

Science is our most accurate compass for designing futures that work with, and not against, Nature. Regenerative development hinges upon interdisciplinary science—incisive observation, experimentation, and collaboration.

Markets

Markets are humanity’s most effective invention for self-organization. Today’s model of capitalism is based on fatally outdated paradigms and narrow pursuits of extractive growth. The only way into the future is by transforming our economic systems of the past. Public-private partnerships, blended finance, tech innovations, and bolder imperatives are creating new potential to capitalize change at nature-relevant scales.

Technology

We can only protect the socioecological assets that we have the capabilities to sense, measure and model. Advances in remote sensing, data science, and AI have given us game-changing visibility into system dynamics, leverage points, and future impacts.

Living Systems Consciousness

Addressing the polycrisis of today is as much a human consciousness problem as it is an environmental problem. To overturn the dogma of separateness that has fueled the industrial growth-and-destruction complex of the last 250 years, a human “thoughtware update” is needed. Navigating this period of profound uncertainty will require humanity to evolve its consciousness and see itself as a part of, and not apart from, Nature.

Strategy, research, and business development services

My north star is for trillions of dollars to move into businesses that grow with Nature.

I collaborate with investors, businesses, and initiatives working to address planetary overshoot:

  • Science-led strategy for turning vision into impact when screening, generating, predicting, and validating outcomes to protect and regenerate ecosystems, and advance social flourishing

  • Interdisciplinary research, thought leadership and data analysis to hone in on opportunities, trends, and strategies across impact investing themes, sectors, and bioregions

  • Impact measurement strategies to maximize the credibility, integrity, and durability of nature-based solutions

  • Business development and applied research for naturetech enterprises that are reducing extinction pressures, decarbonizing industry, and scaling environmental data systems

  • Public speaking and community-weaving to push the leading edge of thought, spark innovation, and foster partnerships

  • Conscious leadership and management of teams and projects premised on the understanding that advancing inner development goals (e.g., wellbeing and critical thinking) is critical to advancing sustainable development goals
